Whales swimming through the water, seals raising their young,
seabirds soaring across the sky—to ensure that these life-filled scenes of the northern seas
are protected and passed on for generations to come.
At the Marine Wildlife Center of Japan, we engage in steady, long-term efforts: research and surveys of the natural environment of the Okhotsk Sea and the Northern Territories, as well as dialogue with local communities seeking coexistence between seals and fisheries.
These activities are sustained not only through cooperation with local partners and experts, but also through the support of people who care deeply about nature and who wish to leave as much of this precious environment as possible for future generations.
It may feel like “a story from a distant sea.”
Yet what happens in that sea is closely connected to our daily lives and to our planet Earth as a whole.
Each individual’s interest and actions can become a powerful force.
If you find importance in our work, we kindly ask for your help in the form of tangible support.
